Chiang Mai is set to host its vibrant Flower Festival from February 7th to 9th, 2025 at Nong Buak Hard Public Park. The event, themed “The Charm of Blossoms and Beauty of Wiang Ping Flora,” showcases the region’s rich floral heritage and supports Chiang Mai’s status as a World Festival and Event City.

The festival begins with an elaborate Opening Ceremony and a Floral Float Parade on February 8th, starting at the Nawarat Bridge, featuring 25 elaborately decorated floats. These displays celebrate the cultural and botanical richness of the region.

Enhancing tourism and cultural exposure

The Chiang Mai Flower Festival is a cornerstone of the city’s “12 Months, 12 Festivals” initiative, aimed at enhancing tourism and showcasing the city’s unique cultural attributes. Nong Buak Hard Public Park will be transformed into a floral wonderland, displaying over a million flowers from more than 100 tropical and temperate plant species. The park will feature interactive installations such as a night-illuminated flower garden, a laser tunnel, and glow-in-the-dark body painting activities, all designed to create a memorable visitor experience. In addition, the festival will include performances, craft exhibitions, and stalls selling traditional Thai products, further enriching the cultural tapestry of the event.

A commitment to cultural and economic growth

Deputy Governor Weeraphong Ritrod emphasized Chiang Mai’s commitment to promoting tourism throughout the year. He specifically noted that February, marked by the bloom of flowers, is the time for the Chiang Mai Flower Festival. Now in its 48th year, this festival stands out as Thailand’s sole event featuring floral floats. It celebrates the city’s allure through displays of flowers, ornamental plants, and local cultural elements like traditional textiles and unique crafts.

Festival hours

The festival grounds will remain open until midnight, allowing visitors to enjoy the illuminated displays after dark, thereby accommodating more attendees and enhancing their festival experience. This extended access ensures that all guests have ample opportunity to engage with the festival’s many attractions at their convenience.
